Ski Style: Essentials List
It’s been a winter wonderland out west over the past few weeks and we cannot wait to hit the slopes. We usually ski after Christmas and decided not to around New Year’s this year; so needless to say, Mathew and I definitely have ski envy right about now. I should have hopped in my niece and nephew’s suitcase last week; but, since that did not happen… I’ll post my style edit for skiing this year and just wait to layer up! In my opinion, there are a few things you MUST have when going skiing (other than the obvious - ski pants and jackets, which will be in next post). This list is a list I’ve decided are 11 things you HAVE to have…take it from me, a sunshine girl with poor circulation, who continues to ski since my family loves it, and I’m too darn competitive to sit out a day! Therefore, if I’m going to ski (and I do love it) - I want to basically be sweating and that requires the RIGHT gear!
/one/ MIDLAYER: I’ve tried a lot of midlayers and always, always go back to this particular one. I have it in a few colors now and it is the only style I plan to pack for our next trip. /two/ SUNGLASSES: I miss the days of skiing in stylish sunglasses. Though sunglasses don’t get any ski action, I do still pack a pair in a soft case in my pocket for the long lunches enjoyed on the mountain. This pair is classic and seems perfect for any ski town and is sure to cover the goggle impression we can’t avoid on windburned faces. /three/ HEATED SOCKS: These were an absolute game changer for me last year! We finally decided a few years ago to get our own boots, but did not get heated boots and these rechargeable socks are the next best thing! Worth. every. penny….IF you freeze on the slopes, like me! /four/ MITTENS: The Hestra mittens are literally the only mittens I will wear. They are an investment, but you can put hot hands in your palm and they really keep your hands super warm. If your hands are cold, I feel like the rest of the body is miserable, so good mittens are a must. I have these and these…sometimes they get wet, so I like having an extra pair to rotate and let them dry out in between wears. /five/ HELMET: A good helmet is important, which goes without saying, but this is mine and I really like it! /six/ HOT HANDS: We always take a big box of these out to use during the day and walking to dinner, ice skating, or really any time you’re outside! We use the hand warmers, but also use the toe warmers. Both are great to have! I know there are a lot of various brands, but we’re loyal to the Hot Hands brand. They’re made in Matthew’s hometown of Dalton, and we love supporting local when we can! /seven/ GOGGLES: I’ve tried a few different kinds of goggles, but I can see best out of this pair and the Smith goggles seem to fog the least amount for me. /eight/ FAUX FUR HEADBAND: I love taking a few headbands. Sometimes we ski until the last lift, but are starving by the time were finished with the last run of the day. For us, that means a quick change or straight to dinner in our ski clothes, but since inevitably I have helmet hair, a cute, chunky headband saves the day! A fast paced trip calls for quick changes and accessories that cover bad hair! /nine/ COMFY CASUAL WEAR: How cute is this chic set? Comfortable is key once you peel off the layers of the day! This set can take you to the spa, to the hotel bar for a cocktail, or by the fire for board games with the family. /ten/ MOISTURIZER: It’s no secret I have always loved La Mer, but I ESPECIALLY love it when we go out west. My skin gets incredibly dry when skiing, so I coat this cream on at night and my face feels much better by the morning! /eleven/ APRÈS SKI BOOTS: Anyone who skis knows the best part of the day (aside from après champagne) happens to be the minute you take your boots off at the end of a fun day. I have these boots and they happen to be as comfy, as they are stylish, and I prefer these when my feet are really hurting.
I hope my list of basics helps….add anything you consider a must pack item too! I always love editing a list of must have items! Happy Shopping! XOXO, Tracy
