Sarah's Sweet 9th Birthday

For Sarah’s birthday last summer, we had a VERY Sarah birthday…all sweets and outside summer fun! I thought it would be fun to share as we all start to think about summer plans. Whether you have a summer birthday coming up in your house, or you just want a “kick off to summer” party, the kids had a ball at this one and it was really pretty easy to plan! The party resources in Chattanooga have grown tremendously over the past few years. There are a few businesses I call anytime we have a party, and they elevate the party in a way I can’t do on my own!

Last summer we were lucky enough to spend the last weeks leading up to the school year in Greece, but that meant some major planning ahead for Sarah’s birthday party. With her birthday falling in the middle of August, I like having her party before school starts because once the school year starts … you all know it’s crazy with activities ramping up. Plus, it has kind of turned into a birthday / end of summer party for Sarah! It’s helpful to plan in advance anyway since so many of the businesses we love schedule out far in advance.

Ok, now to the theme…to know Sarah is to know just how much she loves CANDY, so we turned her 9th birthday into a candy themed birthday bash! We started with these invitations I ordered from Weezie B & Sally C Designs, a cute small business I connected with a few years ago and the only business I used outside of Chattanooga for the party (based in Birmingham). I e-mailed the girls at Weezie B & Sally C Designs the candy theme and colors, and they helped me come up with an adorable candy graphic to use on the invitations, napkins, cups, and tags for the favors. After all the paper goods were complete, I ordered a cake from Kimmee’s Cakes. Y’all, she knocked it out of the park with the cake she created! It was pretty amazing to see Sarah’s face when she saw the cake! Then, of course, you guys know I love Paulette of Petit Jubilee Events. This party was about the 8th time we’ve hired Paulette because when she is involved the party is magical! I usually tell her an idea of what I want and she always surpasses my expectations! She did the colorful balloon arch over the snacks table and the balloons on the bounce house - both were perfect! As for the beautiful bounce house, we rented from The White Bounce House Chattanooga. The bounce houses they rent out are beautiful and the kids loved going from the pool to the bounce house, back and forth! Overall, we’re lucky to have so many fun resources to pull from to throw a party. I’ve loved watching these small businesses evolve, but also don’t know how we would throw such great parties without them! Once I lined up everything, I knew we could go on our last trip of the summer and it would all fall into place when we got home. The party was less than 48 hours after returning home from Greece and Sarah said it was her best party yet!
