Fairy Princess Party

Sarah turned three on August 15th!  I can't believe it...time has absolutely flown by!  I am beyond grateful everyday I have with my girls.  Caroline has always been my sweet, laid back girl who wants everyone to by happy, but Sarah on the other hand has really taken this family by storm!  Every - single - day with Sarah is wild and exciting!  Everyday she wakes up and goes to all three of us and says, actually she yells, "Get up, it's morning day!"  She just brings such vibrance to our family I cannot even describe!  So, I can't believe I thought Sarah would go for a family party again this year.  The crazy thing about this Fairy Princess birthday is it was thrown together in a very short amount of time.  I thought we had one more year of a family dinner and playing up her birthday in that way, but after this
cake on her actual birthday and a few presents the night of her birthday with the four of us, she asked, "So, when is my party?"  We all laughed then I pulled it together the next day, with the help of Caroline!  I was already feeling a little guilty about Sarah not having a party with her three year old friends.

To me, the great thing about three year olds, and kids for that matter, is they don't need a lot at a party.  A great cake, great friends, and a place to run really seems to be what they need most!  I tend to also think of things in terms of pictures, which is when I started looking for the tutus, wands, and wings for the girls.  I love seeing all these precious girls running around carefree in the yard with their fluffy pink tutus.  I made flower crowns for all of the girls to wear, which added to the whimsical picture I wanted for Sarah at the party.  Plus, I don't think we ever change as girls...the more dressed up we are, the better we feel, right?  You could sense how fabulous all these cuties felt dressed in their party attire.

As for food, I like to keep it simple at parties for children.  I have never met a child who does not love Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets, so I always order a large tray.  I like to have Chick-fil-A put them in a warming tray because they look SO much nicer on a beautiful platter instead of the plastic one Chick-fil-A provides.  I also served fruit, confetti popcorn, and tutu and flower shaped sugar cookies.  I ordered the cookies from a cute local bakery, Signal Mountain Cookie Lady, and she is amazing!  I like to put the cookies in individual bags, so parents can take them home to enjoy or they can be opened and enjoyed at the party!  Of course, pink lemonade is perfect for a fairy princess party, but I also served sparkling water and bottles of regular water (and I have to be honest, rose' and chardonnay were in the kitchen)!  This was the first full week of school for all the kiddos around here, so the moms needed to have a way to relax too!

Then, activities included a hot pink bounce house castle I had shipped via two day.  It was not much more in price just to buy one over renting and think about how much cleaner it is to own one!!  At the round table in the grass, the kids painted white glue with paint brushes on large rocks and rolled them in glitter.  They were able to take their special "fairy rocks" home.  Some of the older girls, friends of Caroline's, read fairy books to the younger ones up on the porch.  It was the sweetest thing watching these younger girls hang onto every word of the older girls, yet they were all sitting in their flower crowns and tutus, young and older girls together.  Running around, eating, and listening to music were also big hits for a successful three year old soirée!

Fairy Confetti Pixie Dust Popcorn
Cook popcorn as usual, melt white chocolate, drizzle it over the popcorn and then top it with your favorite sprinkles.  My girls love the multi-color star sprinkles you can find in the baking section of any grocery store.
Ingredients:
1 regular bag of popcorn
2 ounces white chocolate chips
Star Sprinkles
We had the best time celebrating Sarah and we especially loved finding daisies and tutus all over the house all weekend long in the aftermath!  XOXO

1.  Daisy Garland - I cut each piece of garland into thirds and tied the ends with grosgrain pink ribbon, leaving it long enough to make streamers down the back.
2.  Kids Chairs
3.  My new favorite sunnies, although in some pictures I have on my old ones because I kept setting them down inside when I was replenishing food or pouring a drink for guests.
4.  Pink Gingham Top on Me
5.  Pink and white plates
6.  Tutu, wings, wands sets
7.  Fairy Book read at the party
