Valentine's Day Goodies
I am so happy to have my first post of 2018 up. I laugh and tell people I hibernate in January, but it really is no joke! Other than what I have done with Matthew and the girls, I have been organizing, reading (more on good books later), and just rejuvenating after the end of 2017. I am a summer girl, through and through, so "hibernating" is just something I do! As I reemerge, I have to say I LOVE Valentine's Day and I love it more now that we have kids. The girls and I painted pottery yesterday for Valentines and in the past Caroline and I have done a mother~daughter Valentine tea party (we're taking this year off, but I promised we would start back in 2019), and I love making Valentines with the girls. Oh, and pink has always been my favorite color. I love the way it looks mixed with bold red! By now, you know by now my thoughts on dressing for holidays on the days leading up to the day (even for a small holiday like Valentines) ... I just think it makes life fun to sport your festive colors! I pulled together a collage of all of my favorite February picks for you below. Some are great gifts, some are perfect to wear in February, some are great for tea parties, and then some items will make amazing transitional pieces into spring. See what you think!
1. This pink and white gingham button up is the best everyday top and the best part is the price!
2. I am so excited about this feminine blush pink dress. I can't wait to wear it with booties, but won't it look adorable with gold wedges in the spring!?
3. I love red jeans, I always have! I loved the edginess of this pair and thought I would wear these with the blush pink flats in the bottom right. Edgy meets prim and proper!
4. This puzzle does not need an explanation! It is perfection for an end table or coffee table. I find this to be so elegant for any home.
5. I am on my third tube of this lip conditioner. I think I am addicted to the rose scent and it gives just the slightest hint of color.
6. These flat sandals are adorable with this simple ruffle across the top of the foot.
7. Oh my, I have my eye on this outfit. It is a bit pricey, but I think I will stalk it until it goes on sale. How cute would this be for a date night or Sarah's first ballet recital?!
8. I am in love with the presentation of this cookie box. You could order this one, or if you are a Chattanooga local, you could recreate this same box with cookies from the Signal Mountain Cookie Lady and a trip to Hobby Lobby.
9. I found these plates online and love them! They remind me of a set of four heart plates my mom and I bought back when I lived in an apartment in Atlanta. I still pull out that set of 4 heart plates every year! I may add this white set of four to the mix this year. Now that we have two girls, I always think in terms of what I will give them when they have their own homes, so I will need two sets of four. Crazy, I know! :)
10. How awesome is this dress? I ordered it yesterday, so I can't report on the fit yet, but I can't wait to wear it!
11. I was really drawn to the bold colors on these earrings.
12. I ordered this bathing suit when it first came out and love it! I just can't wait to wear it. I love the retro vibe and I am all about high waisted these days, plus it will be the perfect suit to play in the pool with the girls.
13. These cute pajamas are the kind you can't wait to put on. I've actually never met a pajama I don't like, but these are adorable and comfy!
14. I love gold accents and I love hearts, so this to me makes the perfect gift in my opinion.
15. I've already worn this little skirt with white tennis shoes, t-shirt, and jean jacket on one of the warmer days. I also think will look great with a navy sweater and navy suede pumps.
16. Loving these sneakers, especially with the pop of red!
17, 18. Accessories make any outfit, and I think both these red and pink shoes are perfect to transition to spring.
19. I'm finishing with the gold and white earrings because they are my FAVORITE. What a perfect gift! I would love it if these appear in my closet.
Ok, this post was finished in the car while Caroline was in Mathnasium and Sarah was sleeping in her carseat after her swim lesson AND it was pouring rain outside. Just wanted you to have the full picture. Being a mom is the best, but you really have to squeeze it all in when you can! Tomorrow, Caroline is out of school for parent ~ teacher conferences, so she is writing for the first time in a while. Look for her Valentine inspiration this weekend. XOXO
